Jeff Whipple won a national competition for a commission to paint two murals for the Hyde-Addison Elementary School in Washington, DC. The murals are designed to be one continuous painting that spans the wall of the multipurpose gym/cafeteria/auditorium. The mural has six portraits of famous, inspiring people who are or were from Washington, DC. There are images that relate to the city. The colors scheme is based on the school colors of blue and gray.
